4. SENDING A PICTURE BY EMAIL. There are a number of methods you can use to send a picture to someone by Email. This tip requires that you are using Windows XP, you have Outlook Express configured as your Email client, and that your picture is in the ‘My Pictures’ folder (The ‘My Pictures’ folder is in the ‘My Documents’ folder.) (This may work with an Email client other than Outlook Express... You’ll just have to try it.)
The procedure follows:
1. Open ‘My Documents’ and then open the ‘My Pictures’ folder.
2. Highlight the picture(s) you want to Email. To do this you have to click on the first picture you want to send. If you intend to send more than one picture, hold down the Ctrl key when you click on the additional pictures.
3. On the left panel, under ‘File and Folder Tasks’ you will see ‘E-mail this file’ or ‘E-mail the selected items’. Click on the appropriate selection.
4. A window will come up which is titled ‘Send Pictures via Email’. You’ll see two choices... The default choice is...‘Make all my pictures smaller’ (use this if the person you are sending the pictures to is using dial-up Internet service, will only be viewing the pictures on their computer, or you want them to experience a fast download.) The other choice is ‘Keep the original sizes’. (using this will make the sending and downloading longer, but they will get the picture in a higher resolution which will give them a better quality print.)
5. Click on your selection and then click ‘OK’
6. Outlook Express will automatically open and is ready to send. Just enter the recipient’s Email address in the ‘to’ box. You can also modify the text of the Email.
7. Click on ‘send’ and you are finished...
